[TLDR: Every post will start with a brief summary. TLDR = Too Long Didn’t Read. My Patreon is designed to help people with ADHD, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, but should be useful for anyone who has difficulty with their executive function, the part of your brain where you do planning, paying attention, and time management.]
Hi! I want to start off by explaining why I’m doing this. Whenever I share a fact or tip about ADHD with someone that they haven’t heard before and their eyes light up and they’re so excited to have some part of themselves explained or a potential solution available to explore, I feel good! I feel useful! I feel like I’m making a difference in that person’s life.
I want to do more of that.
To be clear, I’m not trying to fix you or fix your life. I just want to share some things I’ve figured out and work on figuring out more solutions for myself. Hopefully, the trend of figuring out things for me will continue to help me figure out things for others — for as many of us as possible.
If you’re here, you probably already think you have attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) or you’ve been diagnosed with it. Maybe you have some other form of executive dysfunction that looks a lot like ADHD. As I mentioned, the executive function part of your brain is the area that handles focus, planning, details, and time management. When your brain doesn’t function in a neurotypical (NT) way, you come into conflict with the NT world.
You don’t need to bend, fold, or break yourself to fit into the NT world, but learning to adapt between your world and theirs is a useful skill to have. My goal is to help you build up that skill.
Welcome!
